SFI help: who to ask, and what to keep

For help with your SFI (Sustainable Farming Incentive) application, call the Rural Payments helpline or ask an agent. For your records, keep dated proof of each action, field by field, for at least 7 years. AgriSync helps with the records part: your fields, your photos and a to-do list. It does not apply for you.

AgriSync is not part of the RPA or Defra. With your permission, it reads your field outlines from the RPA's land data. It never sends anything to the RPA.

Who can help with my SFI application?

Helpline number and hours checked on GOV.UK on 25 October 2026.

What should I check before I apply?

Check your land maps in the Rural Payments service. The scheme rules ask you to do this before you apply. Wrong or missing fields can block an application. Read how to check your RPA land maps.

What can AgriSync help with?

It can

  • Bring in your fields from your SBI, so they match the RPA's maps
  • File dated field photos to the right field, even with no signal (Android app)
  • Show what each field still needs, with a Fix button
  • Keep your own record of your SFI agreement, with dated jobs and the proof for each (web app)
  • Give a rough payment estimate for SFI26 actions on each field
  • Make one PDF to show an inspector or your agent

It can't

  • Apply for SFI or send anything to the RPA
  • Change your land maps at the RPA
  • Tell you what the RPA will decide
  • Give exact payments: check those with the RPA

Common questions

What evidence do I need to keep for SFI?

For SFI26, gov.uk lists records of field work for each field, with invoices, photos and other papers that show you did each action. You also need proof that you control the land. Keep it for at least 7 years from the end of your agreement. Show it if the RPA asks. See what evidence to keep.

Can AgriSync keep a record of my SFI agreement?

Yes, in the web app and the Android app. Open My SFI agreement, type in your agreement reference and start date, then pick your SFI26 actions and the fields they are on. AgriSync makes dated jobs from the evidence each action asks you to keep. Link photos or files to each job and tick it done. It is your own record. It is not sent to the RPA and does not change your agreement with them. Changing the actions on an agreement is in the web app only for now.

How long do I have to keep SFI records?

At least 7 years from the end date of your SFI26 agreement. If the agreement ends early, count from that date. That covers photos, invoices and field records. AgriSync keeps your photos and records until you delete them or close your account. You can download a copy of your data at any time.

How will the RPA check my SFI agreement?

The RPA (Rural Payments Agency) checks in three ways. It can visit you, in person or online. It can check your land with aerial photos and satellite pictures. And it can ask you to send proof. If a visit date can't be agreed, it normally gives at least 48 hours' notice. See RPA inspections.

Does AgriSync send my SFI application to the RPA?

No. AgriSync never sends anything to the RPA. You apply, and make your yearly declaration, through the Rural Payments service. You can do it yourself or through an agent. AgriSync keeps your fields, photos and to-do list ready. It makes a PDF you can show the RPA or your agent.

Is SFI open now, and when will SFI 2027 open?

No. SFI26 is closed to new applications after both 2026 windows filled. Defra (the government's farming department) plans an SFI offer in 2027. It says it will open it as early as possible, but has not given a date. Use the wait to check your RPA maps and get your field records in order.

How much will SFI pay for my fields?

SFI26 pays a set rate for each action. For example, a winter cover crop with several species pays £129 a hectare (about £52 an acre). A pollen and nectar flower mix pays £739 a hectare (about £299 an acre). The cap is £100,000 a year. AgriSync gives a rough estimate for each field. Check with the RPA before you apply.

What is an SBI number and where do I find it?

Your SBI (Single Business Identifier) is the 9-digit number the Rural Payments Agency gives your farm business when you register. It is on letters from the RPA and in your Rural Payments account. You need it to apply for SFI. AgriSync uses it, with your permission, to bring in your fields.
